Video: Laura Jane Grace of Against Me! “Walking Is Still Honest” live at the Beauty Bar (Punk Rock Bowling)

The biggest and best surprise of Punk Rock Bowling weekend turned out to be the “and friends” part of the Matt Skiba and Friends show. Laura Jane Grace, whose band Against Me! opened for The Cult in Henderson earlier that day, arrived with Skiba a little after midnight for a set filled with Against Me! classics including “We Did It All For Don” and “Those Anarcho Punks Are Mysterious” along with new tracks “Black Me Out” and “Transgender Dysphoria Blues.” Photos will be up soon but in the meantime, here’s live footage of Grace performing the AM! classic “Walking Is Still Honest.”

[...] Without a doubt though, my absolute favorite set of the weekend was the surprise appearance of Laura Jane Grace of Against Me! at the Beauty Bar as part of the “Matt Skiba and Friends” show (Against Me! themselves played at the M Resort with the Cult in Henderson earlier that night and I had my fingers crossed for weeks that she’d be the “and friends” part of Skiba’s show). Her set included “Black Me Out,” “Transgender Dysphoria Blues,” “Reinventing Axl Rose,” “Baby I’m an Anarchist,” “Sink Florida Sink,” “Pints of Guinness Make You Strong,” “Those Anarcho Punks Are Mysterious,” “We Did It All For Don,” “Walking is Still Honest” and a few other classics that had the entire audience of crunched up fans screaming along. This was only the singer’s third performance since coming out as transgendered and there was a really nice and supportive vibe to the whole thing, with many fans coming up to her after the set to congratulate her courageousness. You can read my full review of Grace’s show at Punknews.org and check out our video of her performance here. [...]
