Stripped Down Session: Warren Franklin “Bright Green”

One great side effect that has come from me starting this website is that people are constantly turning me on to new, amazing artists that I might not have heard otherwise. Case in point is Rockford IL's Warren Franklin, who I filmed a Stripped Down Session with while he was on tour with Empire! Empire! (I Was a Lonely Estate). ...

Stripped Down Session: Empire! Empire! (I Was a Lonely Estate) “The Only One Who Could Ever Reach You”

Empire! Empire! (I Was a Lonely Estate) is an excellently rad indie/emo band from Michigan led by Count Your Lucky Stars Records founder Keith Latinen. When they announced a date in Vegas I knew I wanted to film a Stripped Down Session with them and I have Cory from Caravels to thank for setting this up. ...

Stripped Down Session: MxPx “Aces Up”

Today we’re proud to bring you a brand new song from MxPx’s upcoming album Plans Within Plans in the form of a Stripped Down Session with frontman Mike Herrera. MxPx is a hugely influential band to me, and their album Life in General is one of the albums that got me listening to punk rock in the first place. Stripped Down Session: Matt Salkeld (two songs)

I’ve got a soft spot for Matt Salkeld from when he played guitar in Black Sails, Western Shores. He is currently working on some equally-great acoustic tunes which he played across the west as part of the Drunks Go Acoustic Tour. We filmed this after Matt’s set at the Vegas stop of the tour, behind the Paradise Poker Club (which based on this, may also have some sort of black market spool business.) The songs are “The River” and “11 Won” and you can get them on Salkeld’s album Life, Love, Hate, and Alcohol, available now on Bandcamp. ...

Stripped Down Session: Jared Stinson of Sic Waiting (three songs)

I’ve wanted to film a Stripped Down Session with Jared Stinson of Sic Waiting for a while now but scheduling conflicts kept getting in the way. The wait was worth it. Filmed in the back room of the Paradise Poker Club before Stinson’s set on the Vegas stop of the Drunks Go Acoustic tour, the songs are Sic Waiting’s “We Can't All Be Right,” Dead Fret’s (Stinson’s acoustic project) “The Road” and a cover of Ignite’s “Live for Better Days.” ...

Stripped Down Session: Brock Frabbiele (two songs)

Although busy with the release of his live album At a Bar and touring under the Drunks Go Acoustic moniker with Jared Stinson of Sic Waiting and Matt Salkeld of Black Sails Western Shores, local singer/songwriter Brock Frabbiele was kind enough to take a moment to play some new tunes for our Stripped Down Sessions. The songs are “Champagne & Pearls,” and a cover of Pulley’s “Hooray for Me." ...
