Italian screamo band Raein made it out to Vegas earlier this month for a house show at the Caq Shack (aka the Caravels house). I hadn’t listened to Raein yet but I knew if Caravels was backing them, it would be a good show. But as it turns out, “good” ended up being an understatement.

The living room was absolutely packed by the time Raein started, warmed up by sets from Vegas’ own Alaska, Lester Freamon and Bird Brain, and people just exploded when the group started. Their sound is in the vein of Caravels, with a hint of Japan’s Envy, topped off with one of the most emotionally powerful screams I’ve heard in quite some time.

Caravels closed out the night to just as much fanfare, debuting a few new songs from their upcoming full length Lacuna, alongside fan favorites. The fact that it was at their friend-filled house made it a nice, cathartic atmosphere with everyone singing along.
