Images: Wilson, The Greenery, The Ongoing Concept, Unfair Fight September 7, 2013 at Backstage Bar and Billiards

A hardcore rock show at Triple B? This newish downtown venue has been hosting all sorts of bands since their opening, but I was curious to see how it would handle the demographic that Unfair Fight, The Ongoing Concept, The Greenery and Wilson would bring. Man, was it amazing.

Locals Unfair Fight had a pretty good crowd at the beginning of the night, taking everybody out of the bar area and putting them in front of the stage for headbanging and singalongs. Admittedly, I had no idea what to expect from The Ongoing Concept, and their set was complete chaos. The singer jumped off the stage, knocking over the satin theater stanchions in front and sliding on his stomach into the crowd while the remaining members ran in circles around each other, screaming along to the lyrics. It was fast, confusing, and entertaining.

The Greenery don’t come to town nearly as often as I’d like. They’re an intense band to watch, with a singer that’s never able to hold still and a rhythm section that just pounds away in unison. If you weren’t at the show, never miss Wilson ever again. These guys throw down, playing heavy American rock ‘n’ roll. It definitely felt like they threw a party and we all were invited. Check them out on YouTube!
