Life is Shit Festival returns to The Dive on Sept 25

Life is Shit, the annual Bizzaro to Life is Beautiful’s Superman, has announced its lineup for the third iteration (p.s. Bizzaro rulez). Among the acts playing the Sept. 25 gig at The Dive are Illicitor (who will also be playing the official Life is Beautiful Las Vegas Music Showcase), The Wild Lungs from Arcata, CA and Shovel from Phoenix, AZ.

The full lineup is as follows:

Illicitor, Leather Lungs, DANGERBONER, The Wild Lungs (Arcata, CA), Shovel (Phoenix, AZ), The Astaires, Swamp Pussy, Blood Dumpster, Headwinds, Toxic Dump, Darby O’Gill Trio, No Tides

So what is Life is Shit? According to the festival’s organizers:

“This is a DIY festival founded in 2013 by members of the local music community as a counter festival to the massive, pop culture-oriented Life is Beautiful Festival.”

“The positive community response to the the first two Life is Shit Festivals was overwhelming. Both years’ Life is Shit featured nearly 20 bands, numerous artist booths, the popular Life is Shit Shitty Car Show (with prizes for the worst car entered), and a charity raffle with prizes donated by dozens of local businesses, artists and musicians. The raffle raised hundreds of dollars for local charity Girls Rock Vegas, a summer camp and after-school program which teaches young, underprivileged girls how to develop a positive self image by playing rock music.”

“This year, we are foregoing the car show but will have a Dunk Tank (or, Dump Tank, if you will…). The Charity Raffle will be in full swing with great prizes like a bike, maybe even 2 bikes! We are also going to have an arts and crafts table. We will have blank religious candles with sticker paper that people can draw on so everyone can design their own Life is Shit candle and we’ll have prizes for the best ones.”

Life is Shit is 21+ and free, though donations are accepted and appreciated. Further details for the show can be found on Facebook.
