Music: The Classifieds stream ‘Answers In The Dark’

Today we’re bringing you a full stream of Answers in the Dark, the debut EP from Vegas rock band The Classifieds. Sure to appeal to fans of Foo Fighters, Death Cab for Cutie and Modern Baseball, the EP is available now via Bandcamp, Apple Music, and iTunes.

But who are The Classifieds? The band, which was originally known as “None of Your Business,” was a group of high school friends brought together by a desire to learn how to play covers, as guitarist/vocalist Aidan Kennelley explains: “I met one of my good friends, Anthony, during my sophomore year of high school. He played guitar and he ended up inviting me to jam with him and his friend Sean [Kenny, drums]. We started to practice a lot, covering all of our favorite songs.  We called ourselves ‘None of Your Business,’ but when we learned that another band already had that name, we had to come up with something new. We were throwing around different name ideas when Sean came up with “The Classifieds”, and it stuck. It was just one of those names that we all thought had a nice ring to it and we ran with that. For the next two years we would periodically play shows in Sean’s garage for a bunch of friends, and it was a blast. This summer, we had our friend Gage [Wilson] join the band on bass while Anthony left the band on good terms.”

The Answers in the Dark EP was recorded at Camel Hump Studios with John Brown, and according to Kennelley, they “couldn’t have asked for a better environment to work in during our first time in a studio. John did an incredible job mixing the tracks and giving us valuable input on what would make them better. We are beyond grateful for the opportunity that he and Camel Hump gave us, and we would encourage anyone to work with them.”

Fans of the band will have to wait just a little while to see The Classifieds live. They have a show confirmed for Dec. 30 at Magic Warehouse. Keep an eye on their Twitter for details.
