Music: The Quitters stream ‘No Big Deal’ reissue, announce vinyl release show Oct. 7 at 11th Street Records

Today we’re bringing you a stream of No Big Deal from Vegas punk rock band The Quitters. The album was originally released in 2010 but is getting the vinyl treatment for the first time thanks to SquidHat Records, who will be pressing the remixed and remastered edition on limited edition clear vinyl with two brand new tracks, “Smells Like Surgery” and “Sex Drive Attack.”

To celebrate, we hopped in our DeLorean and traveled all the way back to 2010 where we pried a young Miqah Mayhem (drums) away from his game of Angry Birds and the Lost finale (while the rest of the band was busy listening to CeeLo’s “Fuck You” and watching a brand new episode of Jersey Shore) to ask him about the album.

It’s 2016 and No Big Deal is about to be pressed to vinyl for the first time! Did the 2010 versions of yourself collect vinyl?

As a matter of fact, yes. I remember specifically that we did because both Marc and I got the limited edition, red vinyl Bad Religion box set that year. We got so stoked because we were finally going to hear “Into The Unknown” for the first time, and though it’s nothing too special song wise, it was just the fact it had been out of print for so long that made it exciting. Also Plastic Beach by Gorillaz and The Suburbs by Arcade Fire came out that year and those albums on vinyl are so tasty.

You have a song called “Joker” so I have to ask, what would The Quitters of 2010 think of the Jared Leto “damaged” Joker?

We’d say, “That’s cute, Mr. Leto, but we prefer your performance as AngelFace in Fight Club when you got beaten to a bloody pulp. K, byeeee.”

How does the 2010 original release show for No Big Deal compare to this vinyl release show?

The first release was at the Double Down Saloon. We probably went on after 1 a.m. in a beer soaked fervor, Marc and Tom getting their mics moshed into their teeth. We also had no label or distributing deal with anyone, so the only way to get No Big Deal was from us personally on CD at a show.

This time around, we’re playing at the already legendary 11th Street Records with The CGs, Go Bold!, and Strange Mistress to an all-ages crowd. No Big Deal is getting the beautiful vinyl treatment through SquidHat Records and includes two new tracks. We’re gonna make sure everyone gets a chance to hear these tunes this time around. We can’t wait!!

If you could go back to 2010 and warn the younger versions of yourselves about one thing, what would it be?

You guys will never believe it, but Refused are going to reunite and release new music!! Get schmoozy with the right people so you can open for them.

Thanks Miqah! Don’t miss the No Big Deal vinyl release show, Oct. 7 at 11th Street Records. Are you a fan of The Quitters and ska? The local punk rockers will be opening for the legendary Fishbone at Backstage Bar on Nov. 17. Stay tuned to this site for your chance to win tickets to that show.
