Stripped Down Session: Joey Hines

Some artists I discover through skate videos or punk comps but with local singer/songwriter Joey Hines, I first heard him from working together at the library, hearing his rousing rendition of “If You’re Happy and You Know It” before hearing any originals.

Shortly after moving back to Vegas after college, Joey became a staple of the now defunct VegasOnTheMic, and now you can catch him and his acoustic guitar pretty much every weekend somewhere in town.

I met up with Hines in the arts district to record three songs – “I Came Out,” If We Were Fish” and “All Those Years Ago.”

Hines is currently working on a split with fellow locals Anna Duerden and Joshua Greenway. We’ll bring you more details when we have them but for now, keep your eyes on Hines’ new website joeyhines.com.
