Stripped Down Session: Saves the Day (10 songs)

(You can view all ten songs as a playlist here)

The story starts with a text from my good friend Aaron Bautista, the guy who turned me onto Saves the Day, saying that he saw Saves the Day frontman Chris Conley hanging around at the Wonder Years/Story So Far show at Hard Rock Live. I honestly didn’t believe him, but since I just wrapped up a shoot with Modern Baseball and still had my gear on me, I figured it couldn’t hurt to ask if Conley would be down to shoot.

He agreed and a few days later Aaron and I drove to Conley’s hotel to film the following videos. Conley has always been one of my top 5 dream artists to film one of these with and he exceeded expectations, filming 10 videos, taking requests and reminiscing with me and Aaron about old Saves the Day Vegas shows (the 2001 date at the old Sanctuary with H2O remains a highlight).

The songs are “Remember,” “Ring Pop,” “You Vandal,” “Sell My Old Clothes I’m Off to Heaven,” “Eleanor Rigby” (The Beatles cover), “Cars and Calories,” “Take Our Cars Now!” “El Scorcho” (Weezer Cover), “Three Miles Down” and “Belt” (Say Anything cover).

If you like what you hear, be sure to catch Saves the Day on their tour with Say Anything and Reggie and the Full Effect. Saves the Day will be playing their sophomore album Through Being Cool in its entirety and while it’s not coming to Vegas, there are a handful of dates within driving distance (we’ll be at the Dec. 20 show in LA). Also be sure to pick up Saves the Day’s recently released self titled album from their webstore, especially if you dig the “Ring Pop” and “Remember” videos.
