The Bunkhouse Saloon moseys off into the sunset, effective immediately

We’re sad to report that downtown Las Vegas 21+ venue The Bunkhouse Saloon has shut down.

According to a post made today on the Bunkhouse’s Facebook page:

The Bunkhouse Saloon regrets to announce that we have closed our doors, effective immediately. Ticketholders for future shows will be contacted by Ticketfly regarding refunds. On behalf of our staff, management, and production team we would like to thank every artist who graced our stage and every person who visited us for a show or a cold beer. You made Bunkhouse something we will never forget.

The Bunkhouse had only just re-opened last year, following a purchase from the Downtown Project that saw the venerable dive bar completely renovated with a new stage, lights and sound system and hosting larger acts like Bob Mould, Built to Spill and The Breeders.

But shortly after reopening, the Downtown Project relinquished control of the venue to Wendoh Media, which also operates Commonwealth and Container Park. Things continued as usual up until now, with shows including Bad Cop / Bad Cop, Singer Mothers, DC Fallout, Caravels’ final local gig, a special intimate performance from Brandon Flowers and Bobby Meader Music’s tour kickoff.

Of particular relevance to readers of this site, the Bunkhouse also hosted a trio of sold out nights on an outdoor stage during Punk Rock Bowling weekend. Frank Turner, Mighty Mighty Bosstones and Me First and the Gimme Gimmes headlined those show, shows that we remember fondly for the bands and less fondly for the sand still lodged in our shoes.

No word yet on where, if anywhere, the venue’s already booked shows, such as Torche and The Melvins, will end up, but we’ll keep you posted as we learn more.
