War Called Home and The Quitters to pay tribute to two classic albums this Saturday at The Artistic Armory

20 Years after we begged our parents to loan us $17.50 to buy NOFX’s Punk in Drublic cassette from the mall and used one of our “15 free CD” credits to score Weezer’s eponymous blue debut from Columbia House, two of Vegas’ finest punk rock bands will be teaming up to play the albums in their entirety at a special show this Saturday at The Artistic Armory.

War Called Home will be playing NOFX’s skatepunk classic Punk in Drublic all the way through, an album that obviously influenced WCH greatly. According to WCH drummer Dave Bartlett:

This album changed our lives, literally. By far one of the most influential albums on why we play what we play. So 20 years to the day, we honor it by playing the shit out of it live!

The Quitters will be playing Weezer’s alt rock classic The Blue Album from front to back, something the Weez did themselves at the Joint just a few years ago (this time you won’t be out $40). According to The Quitter’s drummer Micah Malcolm:

The Quitters were asked by War Called Home to do an album from 1994, top to bottom, since they were doing the same thing with Punk in Drublic. There were so many to amazing, groundbreaking albums that came out that year to choose from (Dookie, Smash, …And Out Come The Wolves, Stranger Than Fiction); any of those were much more in our wheelhouse as a band. But as soon as The Blue Album was mentioned, we all agreed that was the right choice. All of The Quitters believe it to be an almost perfect album, and a choice that would be a little more unexpected for our group to tackle. We wanted to challenge ourselves in different musical aspects rather than make a more obvious, punky selection. We’re beyond stoked to perform The Blue Album!

Catch the once in a lifetime event this Saturday, July 19 at 7 p.m. at The Artistic Armory.
