War Called Home release Lagwagon tribute EP

If you couldn’t tell, local skatepunk band War Called Home really love Fat Wreck Chords. They almost exclusively play dives, no doubt in reference to the label’s “Live in a Dive” series. Drummer Dave Bartlett is usually found in a yellow t-shirt, no doubt a tribute to Masked Intruder’s Intruder Orange, who often times goes by the alias Intruder Yellow. And collectively they represent all five owners of Goober Patrol’s The Unbearable Lightness Of Being Drunk (sorry, Goober Patrol).

A few weeks ago, the band took their love to the next level and paid tribute to Fat Wreck founder Fat Mike with a full album tribute to his band’s seminal release Punk In Drublic (released on Epitaph in 1994) and now, the quintet are showing their love in recorded form with a two song tribute to Fat Wreck mainstays Lagwagon.

Let’s Talk About Covers features their own take on “Tragic Vision,” which comes from Lagwagon’s 1992 release Duh and “Leave the Light On,” a track from Lagwagon’s 1998 LP Let’s Talk About Feelings (wait a second… I see what they did there!). You can hear the songs for yourself with the embedded stream below and it is available as a pay-what-you-can download on their bandcamp page.

If you like what you hear, be sure to check out War Called Home live with Nothing With Numbers, The Quitters, Illicitor and Mercy Music on August 3 at The Artistic Armory.
