On Saturday, Nov. 9, I checked out Southern California's Assuming We Survive at Artifice downtown. I'm always surprised to find awesome venues that I've never heard of, but Danielle O'Hara (Nevermore Productions) did mention that punk shows are infrequent there, so that’s probably why it hasn’t been on my radar. Victorville, CA punks Face to Face dropped by the House of Blues July 5 for the final date of their most recent tour. This was actually my first full Face to Face show (last year I caught singer Trever Keith's solo tour), and the band far exceeded my expectations. Their hour and a half set blasted through a huge portion of their back catalog with fan favorites "A-OK" and "Disconnected" sounding especially great at the increased tempo. ...

It was bittersweet seeing Streetlight Manifesto play Hard Rock Live on July 1, since it was their Beginning of the End Tour, and I knew it could likely be the last time I see them. They kicked things off with new song "The Three of Us" (which already sounds like a classic) then immediately launched into two of my favorites, "Down, Down, Down to Mephisto's Cafe," and "We Will Fall Together." ...

The Double Down Saloon was packed June 29 as local punk rockers The Peccadilloes reunited to celebrate 10 years since playing their first show. The night also served as a CD release party for Ten Years ... It was recently announced that beloved downtown venue the Bunkhouse Saloon would soon be closing for renovations and a change in ownership.
