Five Questions with Rev Peters (Success!)

Seattle’s Success is comprised of some of the nicest and most talented dudes we know, so we couldn’t be happier to see all the great things that are happening for them right now. They recently signed with Red Scare Industries (The Menzingers, Teenage Bottlerocket, Cobra Skulls) and are playing the mainstage of this year’s Punk Rock Bowling alongside Refused, Rancid and Dropkick Murphys. We recently checked in with frontman Rev Peters about all the awesomeness.

Congrats on signing to Red Scare! How did you end up hooking up with the label and what are your favorite Red Scare releases?

Thanks brother. Well, the majority of the members of our band are from a small farming town just outside of Seattle called Enumclaw. Toby (Red Scare) is from there too. We’d talked a bit in the past, but he finally saw us play with Lawrence Arms and talked to us about joining the label after.

A far as releases that I like from Red Scare…

Falcon – Unicornography
Teenage Bottlerocket – Total
Sicko – You can feel the love in this room (Seattle love)
Cobra Skulls – American Rubicon
The Bombpops – Like I Care
The Menzingers- Chamberlain Waits
Methadones – This Won’t Hurt

Also, I heard the Drakulas stuff that Red Scare will be putting out and it’s KILLER. That record is punch the world in the face, and they’re not gonna know what hit em.

We were stoked to hear that you’re playing this year’s Punk Rock Bowling! This is your first time playing, but have any of you ever attended before? What bands are you most looking forward to seeing this year?

We’ve been touring so much over the last few years that that’s where our money would go every year, so we’re stoked to all be going for the first time this year. We’re excited to see the big guys obviously, like Rancid, Bosstones, Dropkick Murphy’s. But we’re just as stoked to see our buds in Swingin Utters and Get Dead. Mahones, Bombshell Rocks and Bad Manners too. It’s gonna be fun as hell.

Speaking of touring, you guys seem to stay pretty busy on the road. Why do you think keeping a consistent touring schedule is important for a band?

Well you know us, the positive environment and experience that our live show creates is what we live for. But it really has to do with staying in people’s thoughts for most bands. With social media these days, people are bombarded with new bands everyday, it’s being in their town, and having a presence that truly keeps them thinking about you.

Either the whole band or you (Rev) by yourself have made it through Vegas at least once a year for every year we’ve been doing PIV. What is it about Vegas that gets you out here so often?

I love your community out there. We have tons of friends that we’ve become so close to over the years that we can’t not see them. And, there’s a handful of truly great punk bands hanging out there in the desert.

What can you tell us about your new album Radio Recovery? Do you have a track listing and release date yet (maybe a song to share)?

No tracks or exact release date just yet. I can say that we’re REALLY proud of it. It’s way more “rock and roll” than our previous records, but still with that Success anthem sound. It’s full of heart. I’m real excited to get it out there.

Thanks, Rev! Success’ new album Radio Recovery will be out later this year, but in the meantime, you can purchase their previous releases via Bandcamp. If you want to see Success live at Punk Rock Bowling, you can head over to the PRB website to purchase tickets.
