The world was set to end Dec 21, so Holding Onto Sound brought their friends down to the Bunkhouse to celebrate our continued existence. HOTS made the event extra special by running through my favorite CD of theirs The Sea in its entirety, as well as a couple of new songs that will be on their forthcoming release. It was great to hear all of The Sea played as I know I’ve never heard some of those songs live before, especially the Zabi-led  “Running Rampant.”

Opening the show was newcomer duo 1819, who said they’re still a bit undecided on the name. Next up were the People’s Whiskey, The Quitters and Bennet Mains’ (HOTS) side-project Banana Riot. It was my first time seeing them, and I wasn’t disappointed. They set up in the middle of the floor which was awesome as it allowed me to appreciate the drumming from directly behind. Rusty Maples drew a large crowd and Brock from TheCore. showed up to play a few acoustic songs between bands.
