Back in 1985, just hours after returning home from 1955, a teenager named Mary McFly hopped into a souped up DeLorean with his pal Doc Brown and girlfriend Jennifer and was instantaneously transported to today, October 21, 2015.
We didn’t have a time machine of our own, so we were forced to take the long way, living out the last 30 years to find out if we become assholes or something (or if something needs to be done about our kids).
Vegas skatepunk band War Called Home is celebrating Back to the Future Day by taking us back to the Fish Under the… errr… Enchantment Under the Sea Dance for an oldie, but, uh… well, it’s an oldie where I come from.
“Wait a minute, Doc, are you telling me that War Called Home built a cover song… out of ‘The Power of Love?!'” Yes, and if my calculations are correct, when this baby hits eighty-eight YouTube views per hour… you’re gonna see some serious shit.
War Called Home’s take on Back to the Future theme “The Power of Love,” originally performed by Huey Lewis and the News for the Back to the Future soundtrack, was recorded with Jonas Vece and features a video directed by Brock Frabbiele and Shahab Zargari.

We also asked the guys some questions, but don’t worry, nothing too heavy.
Do you remember your first time watching the Back to the Future series?
Grant – I first saw Back to the Future on video cassette at a friend’s house when I was 8 – 10 years old. I loved it right away and I can’t provide an estimate to how many times I have seen it and the sequels since. That same friend had the Nintendo game and I used to watch him play it. I didn’t get it, but the movie was so good I was somewhat able to appreciate the game on some level.
Seth – I watched the first Back to the Future on VHS when I was 5 or 6. Part 2 and 3 I watched in theatres with my Dad.
Rich – I think I saw back to the future at the Huntridge theatres with my parents. The sequel was at Red Rock theaters with my older brother. The third was just as excellent but in the comfort of our living room.
Dave – I definitely watched them at home on vhs for sure. They were all entertaining to watch. I always loved the ride in Universal Studios Orlando too. Being in a real (fake) delorean was awesome!
Which is your favorite of the three?
Grant – The first of the trilogy is my favorite, although the future segment of part 2 is probably my favorite segment. Part 3 gets a bad rap in my opinion because of the whole old west thing, but it’s a pretty strong movie.
Seth – My favorite of the three is still the first one. That is just a damn good film. Period. The care in writing, the shots, the acting, they’re all top notch. I think the fact that Michael J. Fox had no sleep while filming played a large part in why he was so convincing. I am not sure how much he had to act to wake up from being unconscious at various points and he might not have really known where he was when he arrived in 1955 Hill Valley.
Rich – My favorite movie is hard to pick because they all hold a special place in my life but I did like the marketing that went along with bttf part two and the thought of the hover board. Also Pizza Hut had a promotion where when you ordered a pizza you got a pair of futuristic sunglasses and I was bent on collecting them all!
Dave – Part 2. Do you know how many pizzas I could fit in my freezer?! Future sci-fi themed things were always interesting to me because it showed imagination and what could be.
If you could travel to any point in time, what would it be?
Grant – If I could go back to any period in time, I would probably pull a Hot Tub Time Machine and go back to the 80s and invest heavily in Apple and Microsoft.
Seth – If I could travel to any point in time…my first inclination is travel to ancient Egypt. Maybe someone could finally figure just exactly how the pyramids were built and if there were really extraterrestrials involved. If I had a failed automobile that could bend space and time instantaneously I would assume that creatures from another realm could exist in ancient Egypt too.
Rich – If I could travel to any point in time I would travel to the future and check up on my family.
Dave – I would travel to the 31st century and hang with the planet express crew. Maybe get a job as a delivery boy.
Do you wish you could go back in time and put a little money on the Cubbies? (even though it might not matter after tonight)
Grant – Put a little on the cubbies? No, put a lot on Bill Gates.
Rich – I would definitely put some money on the Cubbies Marty McFly style without the problematic Sports Atlas!
Dave – Absolutely! Should have bet it just for fun but didn’t even think about it. Also could have bet on them to lose all the other years.
Who’s the bigger butthead – Biff or Trump?
Grant – In the who is the bigger jerk competition, Trump is the clear winner / loser. Biff is a fictional character that a writer wrote to be a cartoonishly evil buffoon. He can’t help how he is. Trump is a real person who chose to act out a public persona that is a cartoonishly evil buffoon. If a person CHOOSES to live their REAL life as a wrestling heel, they are a jerk.
Seth – Trump is the bigger butthead by far. Although, Alternate Reality 1985 Casino Biff has a very distinct resemblance to Donald Trump, horrible hair and all. Maybe Bob Gale and Robert Zemeckis knew something we didn’t. Conspiracy theorie, engage.
