Of the four stops on AJJ’s release tour for their newest record, Good Luck Everybody, only the final Zia Records gig was outside of Arizona. On Sunday afternoon, Vegas’s Zia Eastern was home to a crowd eager to hear which songs would be played off of the record released just two days prior.

AJJ, that day consisting of Sean Bonnette on vocals and guitar, Ben Gallaty on bass, and Mark Glick on cello (!!!), started off the set with Good Luck Everybody’s first track, “A Poem,” quickly followed by the second track, “Normalization Blues.” It began to appear that the band might play the new record in its entirety. Instead, the set comprised of songs spanning the band’s lifetime, from “Rejoice” to “Linda Ronstadt” to “Junkie Church.” However, the band still ended their set with Good Luck Everybody’s final track, “A Big Day for Grimley” (and revealed who “Grimley” is).

If you missed the show, and even if you haven’t listened to or “gotten into” AJJ before, Good Luck Everybody is a beautifully crafted reflection of America’s current culture and climate worth listening to.
