Agoura Hills, CA’s The Sheds must really love their Vegas fans. Only a month after their last Vegas stop, they returned for a house show Jan. 23. It was an eclectic and intimate show, with hardcore, metal and acoustic punk on the bill.

The show started with California hardcore band Capsize, locals To the Sharks, Savage Dissolution, and 3/5 of pop punkers Calmosa, playing a last minute acoustic set that incorporated a cover of Alkaline Trio’s “Stupid Kid” and stripped down renditions of tracks from their recently-released Seasons EP. I’ve seen Calmosa frontman Rob Kemerson play acoustic before and was really happy to see that he’s grown more comfortable in the frontman spot, not easy to do on a bill of much harder bands.

Johannesburg, South Africa’s Truth and Its Burden were in the penultimate spot of the night, hoping to get to play a full set before the noise ordinance kicked in. And I can see why, because these guys are LOUD. I’ve only at best been a casual metal fan so it’s hard for me to really talk about them in detail but I can say that I was definitely say they sounded amazing, and I enjoyed the passion and joy they exhibited at getting to play to a packed bedroom of fans.

Of course, The Sheds killed it like they always do, blasting through a quick set that included new tracks “Ignorance is Bliss” and “Writers Block,” fitting everything they could into a show already visited once by the police. The Sheds’ new full-length I’ll Be Fine will be out this spring via Mediaskare Records. What we’ve heard of it is fantastic, so keep an eye out!
