Music: Unfair Fight “There’s Still Time/Gleaming The Cube”

Today we’re happy to bring you “There’s Still Time/Gleaming The Cube,” two new tracks from local hardcore band Unfair Fight’s new, self-titled EP/flexi-disc, which became available today digitally via CDBaby and will be up on the group’s Bandcamp soon.

These songs were recorded with John Brown at Camel Hump Studios. According to Unfair Fight guitarist (and PIV sound man) Chris Duggan, “Even though I’ve been ‘recording’ music for a while now I still consider myself VERY green, so any chance I can get some experience in other studio atmospheres I take! I’ve worked with John from both sides of the mixing board and I think he usually nails the objectives that the bands who hire him are going for. So I really trust his opinions and ability to capture whatever we are going for.”

If you like what you hear, you can catch Unfair Fight live on June 12 at Beauty Bar with The Dillinger Escape Plan, a band that has had a big influence on Duggan. “I myself found The Dillinger Escape Plan about 10-12 years ago from just browsing similar artists on iTunes” say Duggan. “I remember first hearing them and thinking ‘wait, what’s going on here? Can they do that?’ They soon became one of my biggest inspirations for writing music outside the box. I can’t speak for the band but I know we all respect them musically and for how they’ve helped shape the hardcore genre. We are VERY grateful to have been picked to be on their show. I tell people that when we got confirmed, my dick blew completely off of my body.”

Fellow locals A Friend a Foe are also on that bill and tickets are $18 day of show but only $15 in advance, so make sure to contact the band for tickets.

Unfair Fight is just one way the band members express their creativity, with other bands, art and recording among the artistic itches the band scratches. “I think anyone who’s been bitten by the music (or any creative) bug has many creative facets that also need to be fulfilled” explains Duggan. “Look at the majority of bands in Vegas. Most members are either in other bands or expressing themselves in other ways like art, music production, charities, etc. And as far as all the crap I have going on, I just fit it all in somehow. I try not to let it get in the way of my drinking though.”

Speaking of being busy, Unfair Fight will also be hitting the road soon, and their tour kickoff gig at The Womb Room on Aug. 21 will double as their flexi-disc release show.

More info on the release show can be found on Songkick, more info on the self-titled flexi-disc can be found here and the tour dates are below:
