People tend to give up on going to a show pretty easily if there’s any obstacle involved, so when I heard that Las Vegas Boulevard was shut down for the Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon, I immediately pictured the Hard Rock Live with Relient K, Motion City Soundtrack and friends playing to an empty room as marathoners ran through the streets below. In my opinion, there’s a shortage of fun, 90s skate punk bands these days. Everyone is going for a breakdown or overly-produced drums and vocals, but not Second to Last. There are many places someone can find entertainment on a Saturday night in Las Vegas. But on this particular night, The Beauty Bar was the place to be for fans of locals Avalon Landing, as the night marked their Reside album release show. The bill was filled out with other local acts James and Tsvet of Same Sex Mary, and The All-Togethers. I usually cover more of the younger-skewing bands for the site, so I'm accustomed to shows that start around 5:30.
