Punk Rock Bowling 2011 Rumors

If you’re like me, you are pretty stoked for the upcoming Punk Rock Bowling festival, which is happening this Memorial Day weekend (May 27-29). Descendents in Vegas? It doesn’t get much better than that.

The initial announcement on the official Punk Rock Bowling page boasted a lineup of over 50 bands, and by my count only a little more than half have been announced so far, all of which will be playing the day shows at Freemont East. That can only mean lots of night shows to be announced!

Taking place at Beauty Bar, The Bunkhouse, Las Vegas Country Saloon, and Azul Tequila (based on the locations highlighted on the PRB page), the night show official lineup likely won’t be announced until the end of March (according to Shawn Stern’s Facebook page) but some band info has already begun to trickle out.

Old Man Markley, who played two fun-filled sets at last year’s PRB fest, responded to a fan question on their Facebook confirming that they will be playing this year’s fest.

Street Dogs frontman Mike McColgan announced at their Beauty Bar show last week that they, too, will be playing at this year’s PRB fest (is it too much to hope for a McColgan/Dropkick Murphys collaboration?).

And according to their official Myspace page, Citizen Fish and Manic Hispanic, who are both playing during the day on 5/30, will be appearing at Azul Tequila on 5/29. This event is apparently bowlers only.

At this point, every new piece of information leaves me even more excited for this year’s event!
