Punks in Vegas announces lineup for 5 Year Birthday Bash, Aug. 5 at 11th Street Records

Can you believe it? Punks in Vegas is finally old enough to start punk rock kindergarten! That’s right, we’re turning the big 0-5 and to celebrate, we’ve invited some of our friends to play an all ages charity show on Aug. 5 at 11th Street Records.

We’ve got 5 bands, doors are at 5 p.m. and the price? A $5 suggested donation, with all ticket proceeds going to the awesome folks at Girls Rock Vegas, which helps empower girls through music creation and performance.

One of our big goals here at PIV is to showcase the diversity in the Vegas local scene, so what better way to celebrate 5 years of show and album reviews, photography, Stripped Down Sessions, and general nerddom than with a varied lineup of all locals – Last Call, Illicitor, Bee Master, Alan Six and Kat Kalling.

The show is also special in that it marks the end of an era for locals Last Call. We’ve always had a close relationship with the band, dating back to our coverage of the lead up and release of their Stay on the Outside EP, which coincided with the launch of this site (SOTO celebrates its 5 year birthday on the same day as our show). But the band has been inactive as of late, and according to a Facebook post the band made earlier today:

As some of you may know, Austin and I (Adam) have spent the better part of the last two years slowly writing, recording, scrapping, and rewriting new song after new song. Over the course of this, we’ve realized that our heads, and the music we’re making have evolved into something entirely new from any of our previous releases, and to be honest, it’s been very refreshing. With the addition of our friend Sam Blasco (of Narrowed), it just further reinforced the idea that this next record we make is something that can and should stand on its own.

That being said, the PIV 5 Year Bash will be a farewell of sorts to this era of Last Call. We’ve built an amazing thing, and this feels like the appropriate time to make the transition to our next chapter. We have stacked our setlist for this show full of our favorite songs from the past 8 years, and we would love to see as many familiar (and new) faces as we can cram into the room, singing along with us.

Haven’t listened to Last Call, Illicitor, Bee Master, Alan Six or Kat Kalling before? We’ve released a free, digital compilation on Bandcamp featuring these 5 artists. Like the show, the comp is free and any money paid will be given to Girls Rock Vegas. The comp was equalized by Jonas Vece and features brand new tracks from Kat Kalling and Bee Master.

Hope to see you there! https://www.facebook.com/events/786716884796506/
