Sounds Like: Fast, catchy pop-punk

Score: 7/10

New Jersey’s Major League is one of the catchiest bands around, so my expectations were high for their latest full-length Hard Feelings. While it does leave a little creativity to be desired, it definitely still delivers on solid pop punk jams.

“Walk Away” has the infectious type of hook that we’ve come to expect from Major League and the vocals are as clean as ever. Certainly a strongpoint of Hard Feelings, Nick Trask’s voice is a signature piece of the band and this album really pushes it to the front. Aside from the slower “Nightmares,” the record has a quick tempo and wizzes by. “Homewrecker” highlights the band’s prowess for honest and biting lyrics, and my personal favorite track is the ballad-esque “Because Heaven Knows.”

Ultimately though, it’s doubtful that Hard Feelings will stand out in your collection. It lacks the creativity that would leave a lasting impression, but anyone in search of some simple, straight-forward pop punk will undoubtedly find a lot to love.
