Punk, pop punk and ska came together for an amazing show at the Hypnotic Lounge on Dec. 10.

Locals Tuesday After School closed out the night with an impressively large group of TAS t-shirt wearing fans dancing to every song. Unable to fit all 7 band members on the tiny stage, the poppy ska punks spilled out onto the floor, whipping up an amazingly polite circle pit of kids around the bar that lasted through their entire set and came to a climax during their Streetlight Manifesto cover.

The Sheds, visiting from Agoura Hills, CA, anchored the show with an excellent blend of punk and ska. Songs from this year’s …And Now For Something Completely Different and the just released (digitally, at least) Self/Doubt got the crowd dancing and singing along during the band’s energetic set. Having followed them around Fremont Street all day filming very low-key Stripped Down Sessions, it was pretty cool to see the band, particularly frontman Mac Miller, go into full screaming, jumping performance mode, much to the crowd’s excitement.

A trio of talented young locals rounded out the night and got things started out right. The young punks in GPB sounded like they could have been ripped straight from Punk-O-Rama 2 and brought out the mohawk crowd while indie rockers Action Town and pop punk upstarts Air Drifter had no trouble warming up the crowd and winning over the already filling up pool hall.
