Less Than Jake were the first punk band I ever saw live, catching them at The Joint back in the late 90s playing on an eclectic bill that also featured Deftones, Sugar Ray and Vanilla Ice (no “Ninja Rap” was played that night). It’s safe to say that if the Gainesville ska punks didn’t help refine my musical tastes then, I’d be running a blog called “Slow Jamz in Vegas” right now. So it was very much an honor to meet up with co-frontmen Chris Demakes and Roger Manganelli before the band’s show at the Hard Rock Café to film a three-song Stripped Down Session set. Here’s “Suburban Myth,” “The New Auld Lang Syne” and my own special request “Al’s War.” Less Than Jake is working with Fat Wreck Chords on two releases: a reissue of their 2004 classic Borders & Boundaries (where you’ll find ”Suburban Myth”) and a compilation of EPs called Greetings & Salutations (where you’ll find ”The New Auld Lang Syne”).
