Bands looking to set up a show in Vegas have a new place to turn to – Revive Vegas!
The exciting new promotion company is the brainchild of Sal Giordano, TheCore. member who has been booking shows under the “Sal Presents” moniker. Revive Vegas will serve two purposes, booking shows for touring bands coming through Las Vegas and setting up charity shows that will bring talented bands together for the greater good.
So what was the impetus for this new venture? According to Sal:
Someone probably already said it better, so I quote Charles Bukowski:
“You begin saving the world by saving one man at a time; all else is grandiose romanticism or politics.”
-Charles Bukowski (Women)The name was inspired by one of my favorite artists and what he does with his music. No egos, just friends playing music. The basic, bare bones idea of what music is and should always be. It’s okay to keep your head in the clouds, but keep your feet planted on the floor so that you are always grounded.
Revive Vegas isn’t a reference that Vegas or the music here is dead and needs to be revived, but an idea that music should be used to awaken something in us. If you only have $5 in your pocket because times are rough that doesn’t mean you give your last $5 to the homeless. You being broke and stressed won’t help anything out any further. I am saying live within your means to help out in any way you can. If you see an old woman with a car that’s broke down on the side of the road, I’m not saying give her your car and if you’re not a mechanic I am not saying attempt to fix or pay to fix her car. I am saying maybe you have a cellphone she can use to call for help.
All I am trying to accomplish with this is to make a difference. One show or thousands of shows put on, I want to say I did something for my community, scene, and myself. It makes me smile knowing my friends from other cities, states and countries can possibly make Las Vegas a stop on a tour and at least get gas money. As far as the charity shows that I put on, I like knowing that we can be the place that helps a little while doing something we all love.
The first set of charity acoustic shows will be taking place in mid-August, with an all-ages show on August 12 and a 21+ on August 13. Details on bands, venues, and times are still to come.
