Every once in a while a band comes along that you fall in love with on first listen, and that’s The Smith Street Band for me. The Melbourne, Australia folk punk band is bursting with passion and energy that I haven’t seen, maybe since early Against Me!. Due to crazy random happenstance, The Smith Street guys were staying with Stripped Down Session alumnus Max Stern of Signals Midwest when I contacted them about filming a session and one word of recommendation later, it was on.
I met up with SSB frontman Wil Wagner at the top of the Hard Rock Café on the Strip where he belted out brand new song “Surrender” with the bustling Strip behind him.
